I really enjoy how this looks.  Especially for the first minute and a half.

The Boathouse

June 14, 2011

Yesterday was my first day of rowing classes.  I got the classes as a graduation gift from Ryan. I have always wanted to learn to row.  I have crappy knees, so jogging and biking have never been a good way to exercise for me (Yes, I am aware that biking is supposed to be “low impact” compared to jogging, but it bothers my knees too.  I do not know why).  Rowing is perfect.  I know this to be true, despite the fact that I’ve only had one day of class so far, and that we did not go out on the water yet.  We only rowed on the rowing machines (or “ERGs” as Anne, my coach, calls them).  There is actually a lot of terminology that I do not know.  Rowing, apparently has its own secret language, and while I plan on doing a lot of Googling over the weekend to translate, for now, I’m just going to enjoy that twice a week for the next six weeks, I get to go here:

And if that doesn’t make it the perfect way to exercise, I don’t know what does.
